Siksha Charcha has a rich heritage for having its founder Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. The Nobel laureate poet founded Siksha Charcha Bhavana on 16^th April in 1937 under the supervision of Institute of Rural Reconstruction, Sriniketan. Initially it was named as ‘Guru Training School’. His main objective for establishing such an institution was to train resourceful teachers for the development of primary education in Bengal. Now Siksha Charcha is a Government Sponsored Primary Teachers Training Institute under the administrative control of Visva- Bharati, affiliated by West Bengal Board of primary Education and recognized by NCTE. The institution is well communicated as it is situated in the heart of Sriniketan. Siksha Charcha is 5 Kms from Bolpur-Santiniketan railway station and 35 Kms from district headquarter Suri. It is almost 160 Kms from Kolkata and well connected by both railways and roads.

Siksha Charcha has a great heritage from long past. The vast green landscape and silence in the lap of mother nature have created the most possible learning atmosphere and this has made the institution unique. It is well placed in the Sriniketan campus of Visva-Bharati. As it is under the administrative control of Visva-Bharati, the students of Siksha Charcha get free medical facility from the University owned PM Hospital. The students of the institution also take part in the cultural activities of the university held in Sriniketan as well as Santiniketan.  There are separate hostel facilities for both boys and girls with adequate security provisions. In order to follow the footsteps of Gurudev in respect of all round development of the learners, Siksha charcha gives enough exposures on other co-curricular activities like games and sports, art and craft, cultural programmes, mass awareness programmes etc. Besides Siksha Charcha arranges anuual excursion, picnic, sports, cultural activities and celebrate the important events to keep up the pace of learning. The institute has a Smart Classroom to give the students exposure to the modern trend of learning teaching process.
